About Prosetta Bioconformatics

Established in the year 2004, Prosetta Bioconformatics Pvt Ltd is a biotech/pharma research company focused on discovery and development of novel small-molecule drugs for treating viral and bacterial infections, cancers, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Prosetta Bioconformatics is based in Mysuru, India. It’s parent company Prosetta Biosciences, is headquartered in San Francisco, USA. In the last few years, Prosetta has expanded its portfolio by discovering new small molecules with unheard of activity against pan-family viral infections, AMR bacterial infections, fungal & parasitic infections, malignant cancers, inflammatory diseases, and degenerative disorders using it’s unique and novel Prosetta Paradigm and Platform. All these drugs are in various stages of development pipeline.

One of Prosetta Bioconformatics’ key programs is advancing antibacterial program towards developing a new class of broad-spectrum antibiotics active against multi drug resistant infectious human pathogens. One of the key drugs in the pipeline is a new class of compound with novel mechanism of action targeting community and hospital-acquired infections of high priority antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) superbugs.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

M. Dharma Prasad, PhD

CEO and Chief Scientist

Dr. Dharma Prasad has more than 20 years of experience in research & development and business strategy. He leads a team of scientists in the company’s drug discovery and development programs. His core scientific program is developing new broad-spectrum antimicrobials targeting multiprotein complexes that has barrier to resistance development. He is also extensively involved in all drug development programs of the company, including efficacy studies, in vitro and in-animal studies, and outsource management. Dr. Prasad is extensively involved in multiple Advisory Panels, Task force, Committees, Jury boards and Academic councils. He received his most recent award, Distinguished Alumni Award, from University of Mysore in the year 2020. Dr. Prasad received his PhD from Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, University of Hyderabad in 2004.

Vishwanath R. Lingappa, MD, PhD

Director

Vishwanath R. Lingappa is the Founder, Chief Technology Officer, and CEO of Prosetta Biosciences, Inc, in San Francisco. Since founding the company in 2003, he and his colleagues are responsible for bringing in over $35M through non-dilutive government contracts, while advancing several discovery programs into multi-year licensing and commercial development agreements with pharmaceutical companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca, Elanco, and Takeda. Dr. Lingappa oversees all research and discovery efforts. In recent years he has expanded Prosetta’s core technology beyond infectious disease, to central nervous system diseases, oncology, and other therapeutic areas. He was faculty in the Departments of Physiology and Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 1982, where he ran an NIH-funded basic research laboratory for over 22 years. He has co-authored over 90 publications. He is now an Emeritus Professor of Physiology at UCSF. He is recipient of a Kaiser Award for excellence in teaching and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Lingappa received his Ph.D. degree from The Rockefeller University in 1979, and the M.D. degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1980.

Karl Manheim, BS, JD, LLM

Director

Karl Manheim is a Professor of Law at Loyola Law School (Los Angeles) where he teaches Constitutional Law, International Patent Law and various technology courses. In 2007 he was special counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property. Between 1999 and 2006, Prof. Manheim was Co-Director of the Program for Law and Technology at the California Institute of Technology and Loyola Law School. He has taught at the University of Southern California, the University of International Business and Economics (Beijing) and the University of Bologna, and has guest lectured at Harvard College, CalTech and UCLA. Prof. Manheim was admitted to the California Bar in 1974, the United States Patent Bar in 1980, and the United States Supreme Court in 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Physics) from Bradley University, a Juris Doctor degree from Northeastern University Law School, and a Masters of Law degree from Harvard Law School. He is a co-founder of Prosetta Biosciences, Inc.

Ramakrishna NH., BE

Director

Ramakrishna is a self-made successful entrepreneur and is currently managing Shree Bhagavan Industries, a specialized manufacturing company in Mysuru. He has more than three decades of entrepreneurial experience in varying fields from research and development, manufacturing, product innovation, indigenization, customer management and marketing. He is an active member in Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and other Industry bodies. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree from University of Mysore in 1983.
